C2E2 is Chicago’s #1 Comic-Con Expo! It was a pretty awesome con. Although we had a noticed some new negative aspects of the con, we also noticed a lot of new and awesome things.
So lets start out with some of the negatives, there aren’t many. The liveliness and atmosphere has died out a little. The last year I went I felt like there was a lot more hype and energy at the cons. This isn’t just because it’s my second year going and I’ve gotten used to it. Cerebro has gone to many cons over the last couple of years and he agreed with my statement 100%. Also I feel like the prices of everything are slowly rising. Last year there were a lot of really awesome deals everywhere for merch for $5 and under. It’s getting harder and harder to find those kinds of deals. Last year I got 3 posters for a dollar each, couldn’t find any of those deals this year, and I was actually hunting for them. Last year I was behind a booth we were exhibiting for for most of the con but the deals were just every where, which says a lot about the prices.
Nevertheless I still had a great time at the con, so did those other 2 guys. There is a lot of really cool new stuff coming the the cons. I really enjoyed all of the new venues that are coming to the cons. There seemed to be a bigger focus on gamers and multimedia platforms. Two of the biggest new attractions that were there was the Twitch and League. Xbox also presented their new console, which was really cool. There was still a lot of really great art and merch being sold. The prices could have been better, but they were still bearable. Another thing I really enjoy about the con is actually the location. The McCormick Place is a really awesome location to host C2E2. I really enjoy going to Chicago, which I imagine most people do.
If you haven’t been to a Con before and want to go to one you should all definitely consider going to C2E2 in Chicago, it’s a great time!
